The principal part of a beautiful Grade II Listed Hall set in stunning Rutland countryside.
The West Wing forms the major part of Ashwell Hall which dates from 1879 and is Grade II Listed. It is conjoined with the East Wing, although the majority of the driveway and garden is within the ownership of the West Wing.
Under the current ownership since 2003, the West Wing has been extensively refurbished. The front staircase leads up to a large light filled hallway which runs the length of the wing. At the eastern end is a kitchen replete with an Aga, granite worktops, a complete range of farmhouse style units and French doors leading to the garden. Via large oak and glass double doors this opens onto a day room with both a dining and snug area with large floor to ceiling sash windows. Opposite the kitchen is a utility room. Moving back down the hall, and opposite the main entrance is a lovely light-filled sitting room with, again, floor to ceiling sash windows and a full height oak and glass door opening onto the hallway. At the western end of the hallway there is an expansive drawing room, which has been restored but requires some, largely cosmetic, finishing. At the end of the room is a beautiful bay window overlooking the gardens. There is a cloakroom on the opposite side of the hall.
A stunningly grand staircase, framed by a stained glass window, has been meticulously restored to its former glory. It leads to the first floor where there are four large bedrooms, two with en suite bathrooms, a family bathroom and a useful landing area currently used as a home office. On the second floor there are a further three large bedrooms and a bathroom in addition to a landing area which, again, serves as a home office area.
Outside, and on the northern side, the driveway provides parking for several cars and runs well beyond the western end of the house. In addition there is a castellated double garage. On the southern side of the house, and overlooked by all the principal rooms and bedrooms, is a lawned area, flanked by yew hedges, which leads down to a more informal part of the garden with a pond and woodland.
In all approximately two acres (.809 hectares).
